Introduction

Rack and Pinion Type Double Acting Pneumatic Actuator is one of the most efficient actuation devices for complex industrial sectors. It is widely used because of its competitive cost, swift response and reduced weight.

Working principle

When the pressure of the air source enters the middle chamber between the two pistons of the cylinder from the air port “2”, the two pistons are separated and moved to the two ends of the cylinder, and the air in the air chambers at both ends is discharged through the air port’’4’’. Then the racks of the two pistons simultaneously drive the output shaft to rotate counterclockwise.

Conversely, when the pressure of the air source enters the air chambers at both ends of the cylinder from the air port ‘’4’’, the two pistons are moved toward the middle of the cylinder. The air in the intermediate air chamber is discharged through the air port ‘’2’’. Then the two piston racks simultaneously drive the output shaft to rotate clockwise.

If the piston is installed in the opposite direction, the output shaft becomes reverse rotation.
